The ALCMST® brand was born on a lithium mine site in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

Before getting into FIFO, I was a stonemason for 17 years. Fresh out of high school at 17, I found myself on building sites around Perth, installing exotic stone fabricated for high-end designer projects—often for the rich and famous. I was lucky enough to be part of teams working for some of the best custom stone fabricators in the country, including MCW and Bernini Stone.

Back then, eye protection while cutting stone usually meant just wearing my own pair of sunnies I bought from a servo on-site. The basic safety glasses provided weren’t stylish and always ended up at the bottom of my tool box—scratched and ignored.

After my stonemasonry career, I eventually moved into FIFO mining. That’s when I could no longer get away with using standard sunglasses on-site—mining regulations required certified safety glasses. I noticed something interesting: around 80% of FIFO workers weren’t using the standard-issue, ugly safety glasses provided by the company. Instead, they were wearing stylish safety eyewear from well-known brands. This inspired me.

Having some experience in offshore custom manufacturing from my stone days—and still holding on to some global contacts—I decided to start producing my own safety glasses.

ALCMST® was born.

The word “alchemist” perfectly represents what I set out to do with this brand.

An alchemist is someone who transforms something ordinary into something extraordinary—

a creative genius, innovator, or master of transformation.

That’s exactly what ALCMST® is about: being innovative, transforming an idea into something you

want to create—and doing it like a master.
